Beijing – China has been actively promoting a real-name registration system for Internet and cell phone users to better manage Internet information and services, said Wang Chen, minister of the State Council Information Office.

Earlier efforts to adopt a real-name registration system for website moderators at major news portals and big commercial sites, as well as a ban on “anonymous” comments following news stories, have achieved substantial results, Wang told the country’s top legislature last Thursday.

“We’re also exploring an identity authentication system for users of online bulletin board systems,” he said.

This is the first time the central government has confirmed a push for an online real-name registration system and its possible further expansion.

People now have to log onto major websites with a user name to post comments, while before they could comment anonymously.

Wang said China has established an initial system to ensure the safety of online information, but the rapid development of the Internet in China has also brought new problems and challenges.

He said authorities would start drafting an Internet management law as soon as possible, and discuss the possibility of a law on information security.

In addition, Wang said the country would intensify a crackdown on online crimes and anyone using the Internet to spread pornography, gamble or commit fraud would be severely punished.

According to Wang, more than 5,510 suspects were seized in the crackdown last year.

He said China would also strengthen monitoring on “harmful information” on the Internet, in a bid to block harmful overseas information from spreading in the country via the Internet and prevent “hostile overseas forces from infiltrating through the Internet.”

Latest official figures show the population of netizens in China has hit 404 million. By the end of last year, 99 percent of China’s towns and 92 percent of its villages had access to the Internet.

The information industry now contributes to about 10 percent of the country’s GDP, up from less than one percent 16 years ago.

Last night I made a very long phone call to Susan. She pointed out a
number of weaknesses in my life and personalities. First she told me
that I did not have strong ambition and confidence to success.
Secondly I seemed having no clear standpoint on life and how to live
in the society. Thirdly. I was lack of strong mind on resisting
others’ influences to myself.

She told me that from her perspective the majority part of things what
I had done were wasting time. She also informed me that she found my
life was lack of regulation and seemed full of havoc and disorder. No
clear objective on doing what in the future might be the reason for
which I manifested these weaknesses on living. Later, she pointed out
that I always spent so many time and energy on reviewing things
happened in the past. In the end of our conversation, she committed
that actually speaking I am a boring man in her mind.

To the first criticism. my view is she was right. Why I do not have
enough confidence or ambition may be I guess I still do not have
enough knowledge accumulated.

To her second point of view, I partly agree with her, because my
motto is that people should have a clear understanding on how a thing
is actually right or wrong rather than the stable position or
standpoint on judgement (Hanhan, a famous young Chinese writer and
Race driver ). Besides this, I also mentioned that I really
have no idea about the modern Chinese society, because it is hard to
say whether it is a good nation or not and how to make money or build
my own career: ethical or speculative, it is a quite hurge problem I
face now.

To her last argumentation, I have no other justification besides
admitted. Personally speaking, I aspire to overcome this obvious
weakness of me.

So what an awful man I am, I need to work harder.

I translated this article from Chinese to English in order to let more people know what a real China and Shanghai Expo are.

Original Chinese Edition:http://www.xcar.com.cn/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=12006757&extra=page=1

It is the first day of the “testing operation” for Shanghai Expo 2010. I visited the Expo Park for a whole day and expirenced Chinese people’s personal qualities again.

People looted the guide map of Shanghai Expo when they just get into the Expo Park. They all rushed up to volunteer who have maps on their hand. People who did not get the guide map run to the next volunteer to ask for guide maps. Each volunteer’s guide maps had been carried off by the crowd people. To my surprise, aged people such as grandfathers and grandmas run as fast as F1.

Today there were only a few pavilions opened for the “test operation”. At the gate of opened pavilions, a number of people lined up to wait for entrance. Because the line was too long, some people started to jump the queue. By my obverzation, the majority of people who jumped the queue are men and women aged 40 and elder. The fact was when one jumped a queue, the others then followed them in hot pursuit. I felt that they beleived if they did not jump aqueue, they maight loose a big amount of money. People who jumped the queue did no response to the others’ criticism. Some even argued with people who pointed out they were jumping the queue. Italian pavilion’s glass wall was smashed by the crowed people. Foreign employees had never met the sense, I considered that they were frightened and become crazy. Soon the German Pavilion closed, and then the British Pavilion closed, finally the Australian Pavilion closed its door.

Beside this, the drinking area became garbage heaps and no one could drink there. The most important point is that visitors today are all Shanghainese(Citizens of Shanghai). As we all know, the personal quality of Shanghainese is not the worst in all Chinese people. How can we image the situation when the Shanghai Expo open for all the nation’s people in May 1?
